Spaces, and lights that change together
Updated yesterday
A space is a group of lights you name, like Porch, Bedroom or Office. Spaces do two things: they keep the app tidy, and they make lights of the same type change together.
Lights that change together
There is no "group" button to press. Put lights of the same type in the same space and the app puts them in sync by itself: one switch, one brightness, one color. The tile shows IN SYNC. Open any light in the set and its controller drives the whole set, including the timer, schedules and presets.
Lights of the same type with no space are synced with each other too, under Unassigned.
Different types never sync
A Haylen (Smart Lights) and a Haylen RGB (Smart Lights) in the same space show CAN'T SYNC. Each light still works on its own. Tap "See why" for the details, or move one of them to its own space.
Control one light on its own
Move it to its own space: open the light, tap the ⋯ at the top right, then Change space. If a set spans two spaces, Light settings also offers Leave the set. Lights in different spaces keep their own brightness and their own settings.
Make a space
Lights tab › + (or New space), pick a name or type your own, tick the lights that live there, and tap Create space. You can also make one from You › App settings › New space.
Move lights between spaces
From the light: Light settings › Change space › pick the space, or take it out of its current one. From the space: Add or remove lights › tick or untick › Save changes. Nothing moves until you save.
A whole room at once
On Home, tap a space's chip to show only that space, then use the one power button for all of them. Or open the space page (Lights tab › ⋯ next to the space) and use its power ring.
Rename or delete a space
Lights tab › ⋯ next to the space › Space settings › Rename this space or Delete this space. Deleting a space never deletes the lights: they stay paired and keep working on their own.
