Moving lights from another smart home app

Updated yesterday

A light belongs to one app account at a time. If your lights were first set up in another smart home app, they stay there until you release them, and the MOD LIGHTING app cannot see them. Moving them over takes a few minutes per light.

Move one light first

Keep the rest where they are until the first one is in our app, so your lights keep working whatever happens.

  1. In the other app, open that light and remove it. Choose the option that disconnects it and wipes its data, not the one that only removes it from the list.
  2. Update the MOD LIGHTING app and sign in.
  3. Tap Pair a light. When the app says it is searching, hold the pairing button in the middle of the remote for 5 to 10 seconds, until the light blinks, then let go. The full steps are in Pair a light to the app.

If it pairs, move the others the same way, one at a time.

If it will not pair

Leave the other lights in the old app for now; they keep working there. Contact us with the tech details from the screen where pairing stopped and your order number, and we will sort out that light with you.

Old schedules

A schedule set in the other app can carry over and switch a light at odd times. Once the light is in our app, open its Schedule panel and tap Remove all schedules. See A light turns on or off by itself.
