Frequently asked questions about Living Room Chandeliers

The living room chandelier is the one light guests actually look up at. It sets the height of the room, decides whether the evening feels bright or low, and it is on for more hours than any other light in the house, so it has to earn the attention.

What a living room asks of a chandelier

A living room has no table to anchor the light, so the chandelier anchors the seating instead. It should be centered on the conversation area rather than the room, hang high enough to clear anyone standing, and hold its own with the light off, because in a living room it is off half the day. Fifty-two of our chandeliers belong here. Alba and Velina pair brass with alabaster, Jasper and Kasper cascade LED tiers for a double-height space, Arabella is travertine stone, and Amara, Elva, and Liora are hand-knit bamboo. Skyla, Janet, and Charlotte stack rings, Obsidian and Onyx bring crystal in black and gold, and Kendall reworks the candle chandelier in black.

How to choose the right size

Add the room's length and width in feet and read the sum as inches of diameter: a 16 by 20-foot living room takes a piece around 36 inches across, and under-sizing is the commonest mistake in the room. Keep 7 feet of clearance under the lowest point anywhere people walk, and in a living room that usually means everywhere. Ceiling height sets the drop: 37 of the 52 are tagged for 10 to 12-foot ceilings, 8 for 9 to 10, and 6 for 8 to 9, where a flush piece such as Arina keeps the room open. Forty-seven are tagged for angled ceilings.

Styles and rooms across the range

Material decides the mood. Alabaster and bamboo suit a soft, layered room; the natural and woven chandeliers page gathers the bamboo, hemp, and stone pieces. Crystal and gold read formal, black metal reads architectural, and the ring chandeliers range gives a modern room one clean shape. Around it, the living room lighting collection carries the wall lights, pendants, and ceiling lights that layer the room, because a living room lit by one overhead piece alone goes flat after dark.

Every one runs warm white, and 47 of the 52 dim from the wall switch. Measure the seating area, not the room, and where two sizes both work, take the larger.
