What makes a natural chandelier different

The shade does the work a frame usually does. Bamboo and hemp are knitted by hand around the light, so the surface is texture rather than polish, and the pattern of the weave shows on the ceiling and walls when the light is on. Travertine goes the other way: solid, matte, quiet. Amara, Elva, and Liora are hand-knit bamboo, Amara a round dome, Elva on a brass frame, and Liora the widest of the three. How to choose the right size

Amara and Elva come in two sizes and Liora and Isla in three, so the decision is the room first. Add its length and width in feet and read the sum as inches of diameter: a 12 by 14-foot room takes a piece about 26 inches across. Over a table, span half to two-thirds of the table's length and hang the bottom 30 to 36 inches above the surface. Four of the five are tagged for 10 to 12-foot ceilings and Arabella for 8 to 9, and every one is tagged for angled ceilings, so a sloped bedroom ceiling is not a blocker.

Styles and rooms across the range

A woven chandelier belongs where the room is already soft: over a dining table with a wood top, in a bedroom, in a living room with linen and plaster rather than glass and steel. It is the piece to reach for when a modern chandelier in metal would feel too hard for the room, and it pairs with the alabaster collection where the two materials meet on a wall or a side table.
