Frequently asked questions about Office Chandeliers

An office is lit for eight hours at a stretch, so the light above the desk has to be easy to live under, not just easy to look at. A chandelier does the job a ceiling panel never will: it gives the room a center, and it makes a video call background look like a room somebody chose.

What an office asks of a chandelier

Two things a dining room never asks: no glare on a screen, and no shadow on the desk. A piece with a diffusing shade or several small light sources spreads the light evenly, and a piece that is off-center from the desk keeps the reflection out of the monitor. Twenty-six of our chandeliers work in an office. Alba and Velina pair brass with alabaster, Bailey and Hailey are Nordic orb chandeliers, Mirella is a solid brass globe, and Kendall is a candle-style piece in black. Prism, Radiance, and Sunset pair brass with crystal for a more formal desk, and Amara, Elva, and Liora bring bamboo for a softer one.

How to choose the right size

Add the room's length and width in feet and read the sum as inches of diameter: a 10 by 12-foot office takes a piece about 22 inches across, and most home offices are small rooms, so lean to the compact end. Keep 7 feet of clearance under it. Sixteen of the 26 are tagged for 10 to 12-foot ceilings, 6 for 9 to 10, and 3 for 8 to 9, and twenty-four are tagged for angled ceilings, which a converted loft or attic office often has. Place it over the center of the room, not over the desk, and let a desk lamp do the close work.

Styles and rooms across the range

Brass and alabaster suit an office with wood shelving and a warm palette; orbs and globes suit a mid-century desk, and the modern chandeliers page holds the plainest of the type. Crystal and brass read formal, the choice for an office that doubles as a study. The task layer, the desk lamps and the ceiling lights for a low room, sits in the office lighting collection, and one of the all ceiling lights range is the better answer where the ceiling is under 8 feet.

Every one runs warm white, and 23 of the 26 dim from the wall switch. Choose a shaded or multi-source piece over an exposed one, and center it on the room, not the screen.
