Frequently asked questions about Bedroom Ceiling Lights
What size ceiling light does a bedroom need?
What light quality is best for a bedroom ceiling light?
How high does a bedroom ceiling light sit?
Which finish suits a bedroom?
Are bedroom ceiling lights hardwired and dimmable?
Bedrooms are usually the lowest rooms in the house, and the bed takes up most of the floor, so the ceiling light does the whole job of lighting the room. Flush and semi-flush pieces keep it out of the way and still give the room something to look at from the pillow.
What a bedroom asks of a ceiling light
A good view from underneath and no glare. You look at a bedroom ceiling light lying down, so diffusion matters more here than in any other room: alabaster and crystal soften it, a brass flush mount hides the source, and a ring lights evenly with nothing to stare into. Sixteen of our ceiling lights suit a bedroom. Arina is crystal in gold in four sizes, Bryce, Aria, and Orielle are brass flush mounts, and Celia and Selene set alabaster in brass. Chloe and Clara stack rings, Elise, Seashell, and Spiral turn a spiral, and Velora and Virelle are ceiling fans with a light built in.
How to choose the right size
Add the room's length and width in feet and read the sum as inches: a 12 by 14-foot bedroom takes a piece about 26 inches across, and Arina's medium or a three-ring Chloe lands there. Center it on the room, not the bed, unless the bed is centered too. All 16 are tagged for 8 to 9-foot ceilings and mount to the ceiling; eleven are tagged for angled ceilings, which a bedroom under a roof often has. A fan needs 7 feet from the floor to the blades.
Styles and rooms across the range
Alabaster and brass are the bedroom materials, soft from the pillow, and Celia and Selene sit with the wider alabaster collection. Crystal suits a formal bedroom; a ring or a spiral a minimal one; the fan lights a warm climate. The rest of the room, the bedside sconces and pendants, lives in the bedroom lighting collection, and the bedroom chandeliers page covers the hanging piece for a taller room.
Every one is hardwired and mounts to the ceiling. Fifteen run warm white and Seashell neutral white, and six dim from the wall switch. Choose the softest light the room can take and put it on a dimmer.
