Pulls and knobs, one family

Six bar pulls and two knobs make up the range. Iris covers the wider fronts, with 3 3/4, 5 and 6 5/16-inch hole centers, while the other bars start as small as 1 1/4 inches. Wellington is the one also offered in matte black. The knobs handle what a bar would overwhelm: Rochelle from 9/16 to 7/8 inches across, Balmuto from 1 to 1 5/16.

The one-third rule, and the other numbers

Size a pull to about a third of the drawer or door front: a 30-inch drawer takes a 10-inch pull, a 15-inch door a 5-inch one. Each listing states its exact hole-center spacing, the number to check when replacing hardware without re-drilling. Knobs suit upper doors and small drawers; pulls carry the wide and heavy fronts.

Finishing the room around it

Brushed gold is the finish of the collection, warm against wood, white paint and stone alike. Match it to the metal already leading the room, usually the pendant lighting over an island. For bars on their own, the modern cabinet pulls collection is the direct route. Work from a template when installing, since hardware set by eye drifts a few millimeters across a kitchen and shows it.
