The foyer is the one room every guest walks through and nobody sits in, which makes it the place for the chandelier you would not put anywhere else. Height is the asset here: a stairwell or a double-height entry can take a piece that drops much further than a dining room could.
What an entry asks of a chandelier
Drama, and then clearance. An entry chandelier is read from the door, from the landing, and from below, so a tiered piece that changes as you climb the stairs does more than a flat one. It also hangs where people walk, so the bottom has to clear a tall guest with a bag. Forty-two of our chandeliers are made for an entry. How to choose the right size
In an entry, add the room's length and width in feet and read the sum as inches of diameter, then let the height decide the drop: a two-story foyer can take a piece two or three feet long where a single-story hall takes the compact version. Keep 7 feet of clearance from the floor to the lowest point, and over a stairwell measure that clearance from the highest step the piece hangs above, not from the landing. Thirty-four of the 42 are tagged for 10 to 12-foot ceilings, 5 for 9 to 10, and 3 for 8 to 9; thirty-nine are tagged for angled ceilings.
Styles and rooms across the range
A stairwell takes the tiered pieces, and the staircase chandeliers page gathers every one built for the drop.
