The chandelier lights the table. The sconces light the room around it: the sideboard, the wall behind the host, the corner where the chandelier does not reach. At dinner the chandelier dims and the sconces carry the room.
What dining room wall lights include
Sconces in the same families as the dining chandeliers: the Celestial, Angelica, Emma, Mirella, Arabella, and Velina sconces, the Lustre, and the Solara. Each pairs with a chandelier of the same name, so the wall and the ceiling match without any searching.
How to choose
Pick the chandelier first, then the sconce of the same family, and mount a pair. Two sconces at the same height on one wall read as intentional; one reads as an afterthought. Placement
Mount sconces at about 60 inches from the floor to the centre of the fixture, and space a pair to flank the sideboard or the artwork above it. In a room with a window on one wall, put the pair on the wall facing it. The rest of the room is on the dining room lighting page.
