Chandeliers add a sense of luxury to any room, creating a focal point that elevates your style to new heights of glamor. To mesh with the décor, it shouldn’t feel cluttered or busy, which is why mid-century modern chandeliers are the ideal choice.
Though mid-century chandeliers are offered in various styles, most feature straight lines, neutral tones, and warm metals, like bronze and brass. Glass and crystal also feature frequently, the latter creating soft prismatic reflections that cast a glow throughout the room.
The question of what the best mid-century modern luxury chandelier is for you, depends on your taste, the room you want to install it in, the size of that room, the height of the ceiling, and your interior design. And, of course—how dramatic do you want it to be?
For high ceilings, we love a staircase chandelier like Cosmo. Cosmo features variations with up to 25 cascading lights that seem to free-fall from the ceiling. With a maximum length of up to 157”, it’s perfect for the foyer or your great room. Simple, elegant, and stunning.
If you’re after something even more awe-inspiring and luxurious, Onyx might be just the thing. With a maximum length of 118”, polished iron, and a conical cascading crystal design, it’s a beautiful way to make the most of your vertical space.
If you prefer a chandelier that doesn’t require vaulted ceilings, something more ornate, or a luxury chandelier for the dining room, we’ve got some tips and inspiration.
Think of where your chandelier will hang – what does it illuminate? And how is your furniture arranged in the room?
For the dining room, you’ll want to place the chandelier above the table. The table itself should inform the size of the chandelier you choose. Ideally, you’ll want a fixture between half to three-quarters the length of the table.
The Topaz Modern Chandelier has a rectangular profile and comes in two sizes to fit over any dining table. Topaz is equally at home over the kitchen island, lighting your task area beautifully and enhancing your décor with classic mid-century brass and stunning vertical crystals.
Mid-century modern lighting often features rounded shapes and soft curves. If you prefer a luxury chandelier more along those lines, you’d still want to consider the size of the room to ensure the best fit.
Many designers suggest adding the dimensions (length + width) of your room in feet to come up with the recommended fixture diameter in inches. For example, if your room is 12’ x 16’, your minimum chandelier diameter will be 28”. A larger chandelier might be more impressive, but it all depends on your interior style and preferences. Think about whether you want your mid-century modern chandelier to be the star of the show or play a supporting act to other design elements.
Arina Luxury Crystal Chandelier features a round profile and mounts flush with the ceiling, adding a touch of formality to your spaces.
If you like the round shape but gravitate toward something more edgy, consider Aurelius Luxury Modern Chandelier. Aurelius is perfect for more rustic or maximalist décor as it has incredible texture; its LED band illuminates a spiky metal sculptural, almost industrial-style design that’s sure to be a conversation starter.
Raven is a crystal chandelier with a drop profile, an excellent choice for high-ceilinged or formal spaces, great rooms, or foyers.
Emma Chandelier bridges the best of both worlds, bridging the divide between opulence and modern art. Emma’s drop design is adjustable up to 24” from the ceiling and features classic mid-century acrylic lights set atop metal rods on a geometrically-designed frame.
Mid-century modern is one of the most versatile design styles, as it’s possible to integrate it seamlessly with existing décor.
